A staple ingredient for the perfect vacation is a good cocktail. Take all the hikes you want into jaw-dropping rainforests, and spend your days lounging on breathtaking beaches, but sometimes, you just need a delicious drink in your hand. Here are our favorite places to find handcrafted Oahu cocktails here on the island:

Bar Leather Apron

This is an intimate cocktail bar located in downtown Honolulu, and their menu is everchanging since they’re always striving to discover new things, uncover new flavor palates, and please the customer. Try one of the signature cocktails here, like the Matcha Old Fashioned, made with 2018 Maker’s Mark BLA Private Select, Japanese green tea, orange bitters, Wasanbon sugar, and orange. If you’re in the mood for something with a little more kick, try a classic/modern cocktail like the Mexican Firing Squad, mixed with Forteleza Blanco, lime, pomegranate, cinnamon, cayenne, Angostura Bitters, and soda. You really can’t go wrong here, because everything on the menu is a homerun recipe. Save your appetite for this visit too, because their food is to die for! The Cajun Smoked Salmon Spread goes great with any cocktail on the menu.

The HI BRAU Room

If you’re looking for a night rich with class and comfort, head down to Aloha Beer Company. The drinks here are great, however, we’re looking for a step up. Intriguingly, you’ll find a second floor here with a totally different vibe. The HI BRAU Room is a little speakeasy built right on top of Aloha Beer Company, which concentrates its endeavors on high-quality liquor and cocktails. Stepping into HI BRAU is like walking through a portal to an earlier decade. With wooden furnishings, low light, and an excellent waitstaff, it’s a real blast from the past. The cocktails they serve are a blast to the taste buds too! Cocktails are served from local distilleries (you simply must try the Ko Hana Rum from the Koloa Coffee Rum plantation). The food they serve here is as delicious as the drinks are quenching. This speakeasy is a rare and exclusive treat since it’s only open four nights a week (Thursday-Sunday, 5:00pm-12:00am), which makes those cocktails taste all the sweeter.

Early September is a wonderful time of year to come and visit us here in Kapolei. The weather is pleasant, the island is alive and thriving, and the three-day weekend that Labor Day affords us is the absolute perfect time to get on a plane and hop over to see us! Kapolei But how can you make the most of Labor Day in Kapolei? Let us help you out with some of our favorite things to do here.

Saturday

Make Saturday your beach day! Everyone comes to Hawaii for the beaches, so you’ll probably want to head there first. Check out Ko Olina Lagoons for a relaxing morning at a calm beach with calm, crystal clear waters where you’re sure to catch more than one glimpse of colorful sea life. Head to Paradise Cove later on and try snorkeling; this shallow beach with soft sand and rich array of sea life is perfect for it. Since you’re in the area, end your Saturday evening with dinner at Paradise Cove Luau, where you’ll not only enjoy the exquisite flavors of lovingly cooked Hawaiian cuisine, but live performances too, featuring acts like native hula dances and fire twirling.

Sunday

Head out onto the waves on your Sunday morning with Ocean Joy Cruises to wake up with a refreshing ocean spray that’s better than any cup of coffee. Look out for friendly visitors, like sea turtles, dolphins, tropical fish, and more! For your safety, be sure to follow the instructions of the Ocean Joy crew while on the water. Head down to the Mermaid Caves later, an ethereal place of water-filled caves where the light streams down from above. You can swim into the caves to explore them, and it’s perfectly safe while also feeling surreal and secluded. This will easily be your favorite part of your Labor Day in Kapolei trip.

Monday

Make sure to head to Kapolei Shopping Center Monday morning to pick up some cute souvenirs to bring home with you. There are over three dozen shops to browse here, and you’re sure to find something you love. Grab some lunch at the Plantation Tavern, a favorite among locals, whose passion for the culinary arts shows through in the delicious food. After that, check out some of the beaches you haven’t been to yet! Kahe Point Beach Park is one of our favorites, and this is a good place to chill out after an eventful vacation. Walk around the tide pools and lean in close to see the microcosms of sea life house in each little crevice there.

The summer sun can be serious business by the seaside. Check out our top five favorite ways to beat the heat:

Chill Out at Papalua Shave Ice

Papalua Shave Ice is a great place to step out of the sun and enjoy something refreshingly cold. This place is loved by the community and tourists alike. This little kiosk comes with various fruity flavors, and you can even get your shave ice in Kapolei with Mickey ears!

Cool off Your Way at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt

Enjoy a DIY dessert at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt! You pick all the flavors and the toppings, so you can have whatever kind of dessert your heart desires. They offer lots of accommodating special flavors, like nonfat, gluten-free, vegan, and no sugar added.

Have a Drink at Longboards

Longboards is a casual dining experience right on the water. Kick back away from the sun underneath a big shady umbrella in their cute island-style outdoor seating area. You’re so close to the water that you’ll smell the ocean on the breeze, and that’s better than any manmade mister you’ll find in any other restaurant.

Plan a Water Adventure

There are plenty of ways to cool off temporarily, whether it’s grabbing an ice cream at Menchie’s or grabbing a beer at Longboards, and plenty of beaches to relax on. But if you want a more active way to keep cool on a long vacation day in the summer sun, head down to those cool Pacific waters, the coolest place on the island, and have yourself a full-on island adventure. Take a dolphin snorkel tour with Ko Olina Adventures, or a scuba dive with Trident adventures.

Make it a Beach Day

The absolute best way to say no thanks to a particularly warm summer day is to throw on your swimsuit and head down to one of the loveliest shorelines in the entire world. There is a plethora of gorgeous beaches around Kapolei, and it’s just up to you to pick one (or two, or three)! Grab your shave ice and take it down to the waterline! We love the Ko Olina Lagoons, because the landscape offers protection against the heavier ocean waves and the natural undertow, making it a safe and fun option for families to visit. Kahe Point Beach Park is another top pick, with its lively tide pools teeming with small ocean life. If you want a quiet beach with calm waters and hints of wildlife (keep an eye out for sea turtles) Paradise Cove Beach is for you. Whichever beach you go to, you’re sure to enjoy the crystal-clear cooling waters.

With its plentiful beaches, beautiful weather, and friendly locals, Kapolei in the summertime is one of the best island vacations you could ever take. Here are a few Kapolei attractions you’ll want to make some time for while you’re here:

Kapolei Attractions – Paradise Cove Beach

Paradise Cove Beach is a place of wonder. With shallow, crystal clear waters and abundant local wildlife (sea turtles, seals, and tropical fish galore) you’ll be right up close and personal with all the loveliest parts of Hawaii. Once you arrive, you’ll never want to leave, so make sure to clear a whole day for this beach. It’s one of the most popular beaches in Kapolei for a reason.

Paradise Cove Luau

This traditional-style luau is the perfect way to end a long day on Paradise Cove Beach. Experience a plethora of ancient traditions, including island cuisines like kalua pork and lomi-lomi salmon, a show put on by Samoan fire dancers, local musicians, and hula performers, and even hands-on games that you can participate in.

Mermaid Caves

The Mermaid Caves are for people with a sense of adventure and an insatiable need to explore. It’s not for young kids, because the natural landscape formed by ancient lava flows can be a little sharp and tricky to navigate! Don your swimsuits and head there during low tide, and you’ll be able to explore the network of underwater caves that come and go with the tides. With translucent aqua waters and brilliant sunshine streaming in through the plentiful cracks and crevices and entrances, you’ll find this is one of the most magical places in all of Kapolei. Diving at the Mermaid Caves is recommended for experienced divers only and is at your own risk; remember to stay safe! This is one of the most popular Kapolei attractions for tourists!

Coral Crater Adventure Park

If you’re really itching for an adventure this summer, clear an afternoon to visit Coral Crater Adventure Park to check out the Zipline Tour and Adventure Tower Obstacle Course. Test your skills and nerve with ziplines that stretch up to 900 feet and 18 different elevated obstacle courses.

Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii Water Park

This is one of the most exciting water parks you’ll ever visit. Take your time swimming and slip-sliding through all 25 Kapolei attractions, including water slides and a wave pool. These sterile, cool waters will be a welcome change from the warm, sandy beaches. And when you’re ready to go back to the beach, there are plenty awaiting you with open arms! Learn about more fun activities that you can do during your summer vacation to Kapolei.

The Perfect Place to Stay

The only difficult part about taking an amazing vacation like this is getting started. Namely, finding the best place to stay while you’re away. Luckily, Ola Properties has you covered! No true Hawaiian experience is complete without at least one snorkeling adventure. Beloved by visitors and locals alike, snorkeling allows you to experience breathtaking ocean sights in a way that nothing else can match. Because almost no instruction is required, this aquatic adventure can allow swimmers of all ages and skill levels to explore the ocean in comfort. Though masks and flippers can be rented almost anywhere along the shore, we have gathered a few of our favorite nearby snorkeling spots on Oahu here.

Ko Olina Ocean Adventures – Dolphin Snorkel

Ko Olina Ocean Adventures offers a few different tour options, but our favorite is the Speedboat Dolphin Snorkel. This trip includes stops in two tropical reefs teeming with fish and wildlife, but most importantly, allows guests to snorkel alongside Hawaiian spinner dolphins. Swimming with these friendly creatures in their natural environment is a once in a lifetime experience. Morning and afternoon tour options are available.

Hawaii Real Nature Tour – North Shore Snorkeling Tour

The Hawaii Real Nature Tour of snorkeling spots along North Shore and Sharks Cove features some protected locations where boats are not allowed, making this a very safe and tranquil option. This area is known not only for its bright tropical fish but for being a favorite spot for sea turtles to visit. Guests here can swim along with and even take close pictures of these beautiful creatures. This company also has private instruction options for less experienced swimmers.

Wild Side Hawaii – Deluxe Wildlife Tour

Wild Side Hawaii is a company committed to conservation, education, and environmental stewardship. Guests on this tour experience a hands-on approach to learning about local ecology and wildlife while connecting with dolphins, turtles, and whales throughout the trip. This immersive educational experience leaves guests with a deeper appreciation for the ocean and the creatures that live within it.

Ocean Joy Cruises – Sunset Snorkel

The Sunset Snorkel from Ocean Joy Cruises includes dinner and an evening tour along the coast. This tour travels along the west side of the island and features an hour-long snorkeling excursion in the waters of Makua. After swimming, guests can enjoy dinner while taking in the gorgeous sunset views and listening to tales of the islands’ history.

These are just a few of our favorite snorkeling tours, easily accessible from Ko Olina Resort. The beauty of the waters that surround the North Shore is unmatched, and the snorkeling spots on Oahu just can’t be beaten.

Oahu is a beautiful island and what better way to experience the majesty than going on an Oahu eco-tour? An eco-tour is a guided trip that highlights the natural landscape of the area, often in remote and hard-to-access places. Since it is a tropical island, Hawaii is known for its pristine beaches, lush landscapes, and immense biodiversity, and going on an eco-tour is a popular way to experience its natural beauty.

Popular Oahu Eco Tours

There are many types of eco-tours on Oahu. Whether you are seeking the thrill of adventure, or a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, there is something for everyone.

Sea Life

Is the ocean calling your name? Ocean Joy Cruises offers exquisite views of the Waianae coastline for your chance to view sea turtles, dolphins, and even whales. If you’d like to get in the ocean, there are options to go snorkeling as well.

Hiking

Perhaps the land is more your speed. Oahu Nature Tours offers a variety of hiking options, including excursions that focus on waterfalls, wildlife, or the geologically unique Diamond Head Crater.

Photography

For the creative spirits out there, a guided photography tour is a perfect way to bring home memories of your trip to Oahu. Oahu Photography Tours will bring you on a guided excursion and help photographers of all levels capture the perfect image. They even offer guided moonlight tours for something a little different!

Tips for going on an eco-tour

After reading through the options, you may be thinking, “what’s next?” The tips below will help you get the most out of your Oahu eco-tour.

  1. Reserve your tour early: Oahu is a popular place, and these tours fill up fast. As soon as you find one (or more!) that you’d like to go on, reserve your spot right away.
  2. Wear the right clothes and shoes: The type of clothing and shoes you will want on your tour will depend on the type of excursion. In general, if you’re going to get wet, bring a swimsuit and a change of clothes. If you will be walking around, be sure to wear appropriate shoes. And don’t forget to pack a hat!
  3. Bring sunscreen and water: We recommend bringing your own sunscreen and water, even if the tour provides them. This will ensure you are fully prepared for the hot Hawaiian sun. And remember, Hawaii recently updated their rules on sunscreen! Read about it here.
  4. Pack food (if necessary): Many, but not all, of the tours listed above provide food. Be sure to check with your tour operator ahead of time to see if you need to bring your own lunch and/or snacks.
  5. Prepare your camera: Make sure your camera is fully charged before heading out. You may even want to look into options to for waterproofing your camera or phone so you won’t have to worry about ocean splashes or a bit of rain.

You may be pleaseantly surprised how affordable it is to rent your furniture. A Crib, for example, is listed at $60 per week, a Graco Pack-n-Play is listed at $40 per week, and a High Chair is listed at $32 per week. That would make this 3-piece set for under $140 for the week (including tax); baggage fees alone would come to $150. They also carry car seats, baby carrier back packs, beach toys, strollers, and a whole lot of other items too.

Once you decide what you need and give them your vacation information Paradise Baby contact our Guest Services.
